We have already seen God’s hand at work every single day as we continue to move forward, amidst the many challenges we face.
Because we believe in the power of prayer, we ask that you keep our student body, personnel and members of the administration in your prayers so that God continues to provide for our institution and leads us according to His will.
Below you will find the challenges we face as well as the projects we’ve already launched solve those challenges.
OPERATIONAL CHALLENGES & COSTS
Operating in the current climate is no small feat. But we are grateful because God always provides a way. Your contribution to the projects we outlined below will help alleviate the continuous increases in our operational costs.
Our facilites require 30,000 gallons of water every single day to opearte successfully. Right now we are spending up to $3,000 daily to supply our buildings with water.
120 gallons of fuel are consumed every week by our power generators. The cost of doing so results in thousdans of dollars in expendatures to power our campus.
After Hurricane Maria, weekly operating costs skyrocked to $9,785 due to a lack of water, power, climate complications and many unforseable challenges.
SOLUTIONS TO OPERATIONAL CHALLENGES
We’re very excited to begin implementing several projects that will help relieve our current operational costs. These projects will help improve and expand the use of our facilities enabling students to continue their studies while also preparing our campus for future storms and climate complications.
DIGGING A WELL
In order to supply our daily water requirement of 30,000 gallons, we’ve already begun digging a massive well in our campus that will provide our facilities with up to 40,000 gallons of water per day. The cost of this project alone is over $50,000.
POWERING OUR FACILITY
The power service on the island will not be restored for months to come. Currently, we’re operating via generators on a limited basis and one of our most pressing needs is acquiring commercial grade generators to power our Library building, the dorms and several other facilities on campus.
After the Hurricane swept through our campus, we had several landslides as well as structural damage to some of our older building due to the heavy rains and winds. Rebuilding and purchasing the use of heavy machinery to clear out landslides is imperative to restoring our campus community.
